BlueSMiRF HID

The BlueSMiRF HID is essentially the same board as the BlueSMiRF Silver but the populated RN-42 comes loaded with the HID firmware. HID, or “Human Interface Device,” is the communication protocol used for computer peripherals such as keyboards, mice and joysticks. This makes the RN-42-HID a simple and powerful tool for creating wireless peripheral devices which can be universally recognized and used without the installation of special drivers. The manual included in the documentation below goes into more detail about the Bluetooth HID profile.

The remote unit can be powered from 3.3V up to 6V for easy battery attachment. All signal pins on the remote unit are 3V-6V tolerant. No level shifting is required. Do not attach this device directly to a serial port. You will need an RS232 to TTL converter circuit if you need to attach this to a computer.

Note: This is a single unit only. We recommend the purchase a USB dongle to interface to a computer if you do not already have access to a computer with Bluetooth connectivity.

RICi-E1 and RICi-T1 are intelligent converters connecting Fast Ethernet LANs over full or fractional E1 or T1 circuits. They enable service providers and ISPs to supply transparent Ethernet services, without interfering with user traffic.

RICi-E1 and RICi-T1 comply with RAD’s unique set of EtherAccess™ features. This feature set provides services and carrier backhaul applications over low and high- speed SDH/SONET and PDH circuits, from fractional and full E1/T1 or E3/T3 over STM-1/STM-4 to Gigabit Ethernet.

RICi-E1 and RICi-T1 are equipped with one E1/T1 port and one 10/100BaseTx port. Packets are forwarded from the Ethernet network to the TDM network at wire-speed, fully utilizing the expensive TDM circuit bandwidth.

The VLAN Priority bits (802.1p) and IP Precedence priority schemes enable users to define four different QoS levels, according to the application requirements.

Fast Ethernet over E1/T1 Intelligent Converters

The Fast Ethernet bridge handles 1800-byte frames, supporting VLAN  applications and other protocols requiring large frame sizes. In filter mode, the  bridge learns MAC addresses and filters  local traffic, and in transparent mode it forwards any received packet.

VLAN stacking is used to tag direct user and management traffic to different VLANs, thus preserving the user LAN settings, fully separating user traffic from management data.

The DHCP client automatically obtains the IP address, the IP mask and the default gateway, minimizing installation time.

The units feature fault propagation. When a TDM link failure is detected, RICi-E1 and RICi-T1 closes the user port.

DESCRIPTION

• RIC-E1 and RIC-T1 interface converters enable communication between devices with E1/T1 interfaces and equipment with V.35, X.21, V.36, RS-530 interfaces.
• When equipped with IR-ETH/QN interface module, RIC-E1 and RIC-T1 transparently connect remote LANs and VLANs over unframed E1/T1 links utilizing the full E1/T1 bandwidth. The IR-ETH/QN interface modules support autonegotiation, allowing connection without additional configuration.
• RIC-E1 and RIC-T1 equipped with the IR-IP interface module operate as IP gateways, forwarding IP packets destined to the IP network. This prevents broadcast to the WAN and enables the LAN users to register for an IP multicast service.
• RIC-E1 and RIC-T1 feature front panel LEDs to indicate transmit/receive activity, E1/T1 signal loss condition and diagnostic loopback operation.
The rear panel LEDs of the Ethernet interface modules indicate the LAN status and activity.
• RIC-E1 and RIC-T1 are also available as plug-in cards for RADís ASM-MN-214, 19-inch card cage.

RAD HTU-2 HDSL Termination Unit


Using HDSL technology, HTU 2 extends the range of digital equipment up to 4.8 km (3.0 miles) over 24 AWG (0.5 mm), 4 wire copper cable. Using the HDSL repeater extends the range up to 8.4 km (5.2 miles) between the central office and customer premises.


  • HTU-2 eliminates the need for repeaters or optical cable in the last mile (local loop) or in the campus network environment.
  • Using advanced equalization, adaptive-filtering, echo cancellation technology and 2B1Q line coding, HTU 2 compensates for line impairments, bridge taps and mixed cabling. High immunity to background noise enables transmission of multiple HDSL lines via the same physical cable.
  • Two clock modes are available:
    • Internal - available only when the unit is configured as "CENTRAL". In this mode, the internal clock generator provides clock to the digital interface and the HDSL line.
    • External - available when the unit is configured as either "CENTRAL" or "REMOTE". In "CENTRAL" mode, the clock is recovered from the digital interface and passed to the HDSL interface. In "REMOTE" mode, the clock is recovered from the HDSL interface and passed to the digital interface.
  • Setup, control and monitoring of status and diagnostics information can be performed using one of the following:
    • Front panel LCD with three push buttons, using menu driven management
    • ASCII terminal connected to the async control port using command line interpreter
    • SNMP management station connected to the async control port, using Serial Link Interface Protocol (SLIP).
  • The priority bumping feature allows the user to select the timeslot priority (high or low) in case one of the HDSL lines is down.
