KVM Switch description

A KVM switch (with KVM being an abbreviation for Keyboard, Video or Visual Display Unit, Mouse) is a hardware device that allows a user to control multiple computers from a single keyboard, video monitor and mouse. Although multiple computers are connected to the KVM, typically a smaller number of computers can be controlled at any given time. Modern devices have also added the ability to share USB devices and speakers with multiple computers. Some KVM switches can also function in reverse - that is, a single PC can be connected to multiple monitors, keyboards, and mice. While not as common as the former, this configuration is useful when the operator wants to access a single computer from two or more (usually close) locations - for example, a public kiosk machine that also has a staff maintenance interface behind the counter, or a home office computer that doubles as a home theater PC.

A user connects a monitor, keyboard, and mouse (and audio if provided for) to the console port on the KVM device and the computers to the other ports.

KVMs can offer different methods of connecting to the computers. Depending on the port density and the type of connection, the KVM may present native connectors on the device where standard cables connect. Another method is a single DB25 or similar connector per port that connects to a special cable which has the video, keyboard and mouse connectors at the computer end. The advantage of the special cable approach is a reduction in the number of cables at the KVM. The disadvantage is the cost of these cables.

Control is switched from one computer to another by the use of a switch or buttons on the KVM device, with the KVM passing the signals between the computers and the keyboard, mouse and monitor depending on which computer is currently selected. Most electronic KVMs allow control to be switched through keyboard commands (such as hitting a certain key, often Scroll Lock, rapidly two or three times) or via an On Screen Display (OSD) menu.

Devices differ in the number of computers that can be connected, with anywhere from two up to 512 computers possible. Enterprise-grade devices can also be daisy-chained to allow even greater numbers of computers to be controlled from a single set of a keyboard, visual display unit and mouse.

A KVM switch is useful where there are multiple computers, but no need for a dedicated keyboard, monitor and mouse for each one. They are frequently used in data centers where multiple servers are placed in a single rack with a single keyboard, monitor and mouse. A KVM switch then allows data center personnel to connect to any server in the rack. A common example of home use is to enable the use of the full-size keyboard, mouse and monitor of the home PC with a portable device such as a laptop, tablet PC or PDA or a computer using a different operating system.

HyperAmp® HA2401GX-1000 amplifiers are compatible with 802.11g (b/g) wireless LAN equipment. Hyperlink's Active Power Control circuit automatically adjusts the amplifier's gain to provide a constant output power regardless of cable length.

The HyperAmp® HA2401GX-1000 series improves range by delivering full transmit power directly at the antenna where it is most effective. In addition the unit's receive gain compensates for cable losses. The unit can be configured to deliver the full transmit power with as little as 1 mW of input power, permitting cable runs of several hundred feet with no degradation in operating range.
Outdoor Model

The HA2401GX models feature rugged, cast aluminum weather-proof construction to ensure years of reliable operation in the harshest environments. The integral mast mount gives this amplifier superior strength as well as simplifies installation. Included with the outdoor models, the DC Power Injector provides power to the HyperAmp® through the antenna cable, simplifying installation. Current-sensing circuits provide remote amplifier diagnostic LEDs. In addition, this unit provides effective lightning protection with multi-strike capability.

Power Supply

The power supply included with the amplifier is rated at 100-240 VAC @ 50/60 Hz allowing it to be used in the US as well as in the EU when used with the optional PSX-EU2 Plug converter (US NEMA 6-15R Flat Blades to EU 4/4.8 mm round pins).

HyperAmp® GTI series are high power versions of Hyperlink's indoor RF amplifiers (Booster) for 2.4 GHz spread spectrum wireless LANs. High power and excellent linearity make it the highest performance wireless LAN amplifiers available today. These WiFi amplifiers are compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b wireless LAN equipment. Hyperlink's APC (Active Power Control) circuit automatically adjusts the amplifier's gain to provide a constant output power regardless of cable length. Consisting of a receive amplifier and a transmit power amplifier, the HyperAmp® GTI series installs indoors near the radio itself, combining ease of installation with significant improvement in operating range and performance.

17dB Receive Gain

HyperAmp® "GTI" series WiFi amplifiers increase range by providing transmit gain as well as 17 dB of receive gain (up to 28 dB available). This receive gain actually increases the receive sensitivity of most wireless LAN radios. This unit can be configured to deliver full transmit power with as little as 5 mW of input power. This feature permits cable runs of several hundred feet with no degradation in operating range.

Our design features 10W FET allowing these amplifiers to deliver full rated linear output in 802.11g mode.

The HyperAmp® GTI amplifier features a heavy-duty enclosure machined from a single block of aluminum making it suitable for demanding commercial and military applications.

Streaming Media Ready

WiFi components used in a Streaming Video or Audio system work harder than ones carrying Data only. They are turned on for extended periods of time without the chance to cool off. Microwave devices are very sensitive to the heat generated from operating at high duty cycles. Most amplifiers, or for that matter many Radios, cannot pass Streaming Media content for extended periods of time without overheating. Some products were designed for Data only use and have no method of heatsinking. If you use them in a Streaming Media system, those products will self destruct or have their lifespan diminished. It would be the equivalent removing the Heatsink or Fans from your PC.

Hyperlink Technologies "Streaming Media Ready" amplifiers were designed from the start to survive the extreme conditions that Streaming Media imposes on an amplifier. Spider Hexapod robot kit MSR-H01

MSR-H01 is a 3 Degree Of Freedom hexapod kit consisting of 26 precision laser-cut 5053 aluminum body and leg components in one of three anodized colors: Silver, Red or Black. The kit comes with all screws, stand-offs, nuts and bolts for assembly (servos, electronics and batteries are not included).

The M3 & M4 machine screws included are high quality, stainless steel, hexagon button head type, with steel hexagon stand-offs. The top body plate has mounting holes for a p.Brain-SMB or SSC32 controller. With the electronics mounted underneath the top body plate, there is still enough room within the body for a 5 cell Sub-C battery pack. An optional PP3 battery holder can be fitted within the body frame for a clean, logic power supply. At the front of the hexapod there is a servo mounting point for an optional pan/tilt head.
