MPLAB Starter Kit for PIC24F

The PIC24F Starter Kit contains everything needed to begin exploring the high performance and versatility of the PIC24F microcontroller family. This inexpensive kit includes an integrated in-circuit debugger and programmer, USB device and host connectors, tri color LED, capacitive touch pad and an OLED display. Menu driven demonstration software supports data logging, thumb drive, and graphics applications to test the PIC24F MCU.

PLEASE NOTESome customers have experienced issues upon installing the starter kit from the CD. The project build process will fail due to the lack of a license key. If you experience this, the workaround is to download and install the free edition of the MPLAB C Compiler for PIC24F MCUs, and then install the starter kit from the CD.

The PIC24F Starter Kit includes integrated hardware debug and programmer circuitry to develop, program and test applications on the board’s PIC24F MCU device --all from the MPLAB graphical development environment. A USB connection to a host computer supplies communications and power to the board --no additional external power supply is needed.

Demos included:
  • Interactive, menu driven display using Parallel Master Port (PMP)
  • Capacitive touch sensing with the Charge Time Measurement Unit (CTMU)
  • Time and data display using the Real Time Clock and Calendar (RTCC)
  • RGB LED Control with three PWMs and Peripheral Pin Select (PPS)
  • USB Flash drive interface with USB embedded host peripheral
  • Real-time data graphing using the ADC and display multi-tasking

ST-LINK/V2 in-circuit debugger/programmer for STM8 and STM32

ST-LINK/V2 in-circuit debugger/programmer for STM8 and STM32

The ST-LINK/V2 is an in-circuit debugger and programmer for the STM8 and STM32 microcontroller families. The single wire interface module (SWIM) and JTAG/serial wire debugging (SWD) interfaces are used to communicate with any STM8 or STM32 microcontroller located on an application board.

In addition to providing the same functionalities as the ST-LINK/V2, the ST-LINK/V2-ISOL features digital isolation between the PC and the target application board. It also withstands voltages of up to 2500 VRMS.

STM8 applications use the USB full speed interface to communicate with STMicroelectronic’s ST Visual Develop (STVD) or ST Visual Program (STVP) software.

STM32 applications use the USB full speed interface to communicate with Atollic, IAR, Keil or TASKING integrated development environments.

Key Features
  • 5 V power supplied by a USB connector

The Odroid-C1

INTRODUCING THE ODROID-C1
A POWERFUL RASPBERRY PI REPLACEMENT

The ODROID-C1 has many advantages over the Raspberry Pi. The processor is an S805 1.5GHz Quad-core from Amlogic with 1GByte DDR3 RAM, Gigabit Ethernet and IR-receiver. The size of this computer is still only 85 x 56 mm with a weight of 40g, and offers silent operation, 2~3W average power usage, and instant portability, since it fits in a shirt pocket.

One powerful feature of the ODROID-C1 is the row of GPIO (general purpose input/output) pins along the edge of the device. These pins are a physical interface between the board and the outside world. The 40pin interface header includes SPI, I2C, UART, ADC and GPIO function.

The ODROID-C1 is suitable for anyone from professional software engineers building Kinect-drive robotics projects to kids learning to program with the Scratch language. Run the latest Ubuntu 14.04 or Android KitKat operating systems for programming, learning, gaming, media center, web server, office/college work, hardware IO platform and many other applications. The powerful 1.5Ghz quad-core processor, low cost, energy efficient features and massive software library make the ODROID-C1 the perfect modern computer for work or play.

APM 2.5 board (Ardupilot)

The APM 2.5 board, which was released in July 2012, is operationally identical to the APM 2.0 board, and runs the same code without modification. It does, however, include a number of improvements designed to increase its reliability and eliminate common sources of user error:
It includes reverse polarity and other power and signal protection on all main I/O pins, for enhanced robustness and reliability.

The telemetry port has been changed to a 5-pin connector that cannot be plugged in backwards, eliminating a common source of user error in APM 2.0. (An adapter cable to the standard 3DR and Xbee radios is included.)

An external magnetometer may now be used, if desired, to keep the sensor away from sources of magnetic interference. To use that, cut the trace between the micro-jumpers marked above and attach the external magnetometer to the I2C port.

Additional LEDs have been added for future use It only supports an external GPS module (the 3DR uBlox 6 is recommended). This is to ensure that the user can place the GPS in the most optimal position, with a clear view of the sky and far from sources of electromagnetic interference such as ESCs and other radios.

The dataflash chip is now built-in, rather than on a custom SD card. This is to avoid problems some users were having with APM 2.0 card insertion and contacts. There is a new connector for future expansion (to be announced later).

Aside from these changes, the boards operate the same. Please see the APM 2.0 instructions for pin definitions and other information about the APM 2.x generation boards.

Note: Because the APM 2.5 board does not have a daughterboard covering the barometric pressure sensor (the small silver rectangular sensor in the image above), it's important that the board be mounted in an enclosure to protect the sensor from airflow, which can badly throw off the altitude readings. If you choose to mount the board out in the open, make sure to cover the sensor with some cotton padding or some tissue
